Carnage in Dreadlands

It's been a while since I posted here, so I thought I'd get everyone up to speed on what we've been doing.

We took a LOOOOOONG break during the holidays. It was slow, ppl got grumpy, anxious, and impatient. We had more than a handful of members that couldn't wait until the holidays were over and decided to move to "greener pastures". More power to em, cuz we're back and still doing what we do best: Making mobs dead.

During the break, we had a lot of members work on their KodTaz flags (YAY!!!). A lot of us are really itchin to try out the encounters in GoD, but we realize we still need to gear up better overall. That being said, we're around the halfway mark of having every member in full elemental armor (minus bps and legs of course). So while we still have a lot to farm, it only gets faster with each kill.

A few of our members used the long break to grind out some aa's and work on quests and tradeskilling. I think they're all prolly happy to be back to raiding again after the monotony of those things!

After the break, it took us a while to clear off a lot of the cobwebs from not raiding. We raided sloppy for a bit and barely managed to pick up any kills. But after all the dust was shaken off, we started killing and killing and killing. And when we got finished with that we did some more killing.

We've tried to mix up our raids a little more lately to give our members new challenges to help keep raiding more fun (instead of just mindless farming). Don't get me wrong, we're still in farm mode, but now we're a little more willing to take a break for something new just to keep things fresh and fun again. We even managed a couple of guild first kills since the return.

Here's the loot since our break has ended. It may not seem like much, but ya gotta understand that we didn't "officially" return back to raiding til Jan 10th. So all the time between the last update and Jan 10th was nothing but "The Break". There's no images for these, one of SOE's patches fubared my screenshots AGAIN and I didn't realize it until this last patch. Maybe I can convince the MWM to gimme a screenie of guildchat stuff again to slap up.

Dreadlands War CARNAGE (and phat lewtz)!!!

Yesterday, for those of you that don't know, SOE ran an event in Dreadlands. It was a war between the Tunare Huggers and the Inny Haters. While our members were logging in for the night's raid, some guildies started linking the items that were dropping off the named trash mobs. A couple of these items were nice upgrades for some of our members, so we decided to go "raid" Dreadlands instead for a change of pace.

We set up our raid at KC and started pulling the little named mobs in and killing em. We didn't care if they were good or evil, we're an equal opportunity killing type guild. After a bit of time there, we started getting trained left and right by other ppl in the zone, so we decided to move camp and set up in the giant fort.

Once there, we were able to kill to our hearts content with no distractions. Not long after setting up there, the actual war started taking place. Our trackers noticed a lot of higher level nameds spawning, so we decided to take a crack at em.

We started off killing 2 of the evil nameds. They didn't prove overly challenging for the raid (with the exception of the pull), just straight up melee mobs with rampage. When they died, the evil side summoned up a dracoliche. Not quite ready for the dragon, we decided to pull 2 of the nameds from the Hugger defense. One was just another straight up melee raid mob, with flurry. The dorf would prove to be a different story...

We pulled the dorf into camp. The pullers had warned us that he had a 3k dd stun. No biggie, just adjust the healers. When the mob was in camp, we soon realized that that 3k dd stun was in all actuallity a 3k ae dd gflux knockback stun (I kid you not). Plus the little bugger rampaged. We stuck it to him as best as we could, but only managed to beat him down to about 50%.

After rezzes were finished, I set up a new strat. We pulled the little dorf again. Everyone was on their game and followed the strat as planned, and about 5 min later we soon had this mob dead too.

We wanted to try the dracoliche after the dorf, but when we killed the dorf, the evils overran Team Hugger and the event ended.

Needless to say the event was great fun, and I can only hope that SOE is planning on having more events like this in the future with DoN, even if it's scripted raids or groupable content. They really did a great job on this event, and just going by all the banter in public channels, everyone in the zone was having a great time. It's events like these that will help keep Everquest strong. It had something for your casual groupers and your raiders. With any luck, SOE will realize what they did right for 1 night, and start slapping out more creative ideas.

Now then, on to the loot from the raid mobs in the war. Grats to all our members that looted these items. They're the only ones on the server, for the time being.

One More Thing

I'd like to take this time to say goodbye to one of our longtime guildies. Darkark was one of the original members of UG. He joined the guild at the start, and he was guilded with a lot of us in FE. He stuck with us through thick and thin as best as he could, but he was an aussie player which meant his playtimes were so radical compared to ours. He tried his best to play anytime he could, but in the end, the differences in time zones simply won the fight. He was never one to cause any drama, and he was always happiest just seeing new content with his guild.

Darkark recently did a server transfer to join some of his mates in an aussie guild, and it's hard to not blame him for it.

Thanks for all the time you tried to make a difference in the guild, Dark. We all wish you the best in yer new home bud. We lost a good player and a standup person. Hopefully your new guild will appreciate what you bring to the table.

Til next update (and I promise more pictures!!!)

Taker easy fuggeroos
